Everyone has feelings (emotions), both positive and negative, that result from what we have experienced in life in the past, and these are powerful drivers of our behaviour in the future. This series of lessons is designed to help you begin to understand why you feel the way you do, and give some management tools that are widely recognized as helpful. Emotions of themselves are not bad unless, not understood or controlled, they drive us to behaviour that causes trouble for us or others. The various addictions, whether substance or behavioural, are ways many people try to manage their painful feelings, and a brief introduction to these is given. Understanding the critical value of recognizing a Higher Power in managing emotions is foundational to the study.
